I'm so sorry for not posting, but the lodge lost its internet connection and left all of us guests hanging... So much for first rate.. I left the lodge late last night and came to spend the night in Tulum. Fishing for permit has been much harder than I expected. It is the functional equivalent of hunting for mice in a corn field or like fining a needle in a haystack. The fish and few and far between and when you finally see one you have ONE shot at putting the fly in front of the fish a pray it takes it! We have caught bit fish, tarpon and barracuda, but no permit.

Beautiful fish on beautiful flats

| Fishing for tarpon under the mangroves was tough |
Finally, a baby tarpon!

The sun at times required me to cover my face from the intense heat
We had to lie down to get through the mangroves into the lagoons
| A small bonefish, but very feisty. |
